Brookfield approached Sarah Ward Interiors with the desire to transform an underperforming retail area on the +15 into a cafe and lounge space for patrons. The area had an awkward floorplate, with a stepped pattern along the +15 walkway that was reinforced by the existing floor and ceiling design that the client wished to maintain. These stepped areas became opportunities for small seating nooks. Large limestone planters were used to repeat the rhythm and anchor each seating area. The north-facing windows, which overlook a busy pedestrian street, feature comfortable lounge chairs and low tables. The palette was designed to be sophisticated and durable, while complementing the existing pink granite used throughout the adjacent mall.
